Troy Sterr, co-founder of Highline Recreation and long time friend had an accident while trail riding on Saturday, September 17th, 2011. At the end of a fantastic day riding gorgeous Idaho trails with friends, he somehow lost his balance on a treacherous section of trail. Because of heavy runoff in the spring, the creek had eroded the bank and the edge of the trail marked a 20 to 25 foot vertical drop into the rocky creek below. It was at this exact spot that Troy lost his balance. Because of the vertical drop, there was absolutely nothing he could do so save himself from falling the entire distance to the creek below. In addition to the overall trauma (broken ribs, collapsed lung, etc.) the impact crushed his T4 and T5 vertabrae, resulting in paralysis from the mid-chest down. He was rescued by many volunteers from local law enforcement, medical, and search and rescue organizations who worked many hours, getting him out of the mountains and to the Idaho Falls hospital. He is currently in a spinal care center, where he is learning how to adapt to life as a paraplegic. His family is also having to make many adjustments; some mental, and some physical.
To help offset some of Troy's family's expenses, we are selling special "For Troy" Style 1 Tuggers. They are the same price as a regular embroidered Tugger -- but all of the sale proceeds will go to Troy and his family to help with house renovation and other expenses related to this life-changing situation.
